Our Story
Sharp Bend Forge is owned and operated by Rob Hough. I pursue excellence in hand forged iron work with a focus on tools for the blacksmith. Over the past few years I have spent quite a bit of time learning from: Brian Brazeal, Ed Brazeal, Roy Adams, Kurt Ferhenbach, and wide assortment of over smiths.
I strive for clean forgings, with a serious lean towards “Forged to Finish”. Which ultimately means, “as-is” with very little grinding or file work after the forging process is complete.
I grew up in Central Texas and moved to Indiana in the late 90s. From there, I found myself in Fishers, IN for nearly 20 years. My wife (Christie), and daughter (Sophia) bought a home with a little property in Albany, IN and moved here during the spring of 2022. It was at this time that I decided to open my shop to the public and begin offering my services to those interested. A few things that I utilize to help me in the shop include:
250# Murray Power Hammer. This hammer was once owned by Clifton Ralph.
(2) 70# Clay Spencer Tire Hammers
25 Ton Coal Iron Works Press
1939 Sidney Lathe with 16” Swing
1943 Monarch 18CBB with 21.5” swing capacity
(2) Bridgeport Mills
(5) Fully functional forging stations - complete with striking anvils and tools.
